Affiliate Members

TRAILS faculty in discussion

TRAILS is happy to welcome affiliates to join our community. The goal of affiliation is to grow a research and development community devoted to trustworthy AI design, development, deployment, and oversight.

Affiliates will be listed on the TRAILS website, invited to TRAILS events that may not be open to the general public, and may have opportunities to give talks at TRAILS events and on partner TRAILS campuses. Affiliates should be committed to TRAILS’ mission and should have a track record of, or plan to, undertake work related to that mission in areas such as research, public policy, and journalism.

We welcome faculty, researchers and professionals from any institution to apply for affiliation. Affiliates are expected to attend at least two TRAILS events per year, read TRAILS newsletters and communications, and engage with TRAILS students and faculty. On the application form, you must list the name of the TRAILS faculty member who is nominating you for affiliation. Please discuss this nomination with them before applying. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

TRAILS is happy to welcome student affiliates. The goal of student affiliation is to grow a research and development community devoted to trustworthy AI design, development, deployment, and oversight. Students are eligible for affiliation if they are working on a TRAILS-related project with a TRAILS faculty member, and are enrolled in one of the TRAILS partner universities.

Student affiliates will be listed on the TRAILS website, will have access to shared TRAILS spaces within their own institution, and will be invited to TRAILS events that may not be open to the general public. Student affiliates may have opportunities to give talks at TRAILS events and on partner TRAILS campuses. We expect student affiliates to attend at least six TRAILS events per year, while volunteering to support at least two. Examples of TRAILS events include workshops, seminars, speaker series, the annual symposium, and social events.

On the application form, you must list the name of the TRAILS faculty member who is nominating you for affiliation. Please discuss this nomination with them before applying. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
